Research training and computer programming workshop dedicated to recruiting community college students into REU opportunities.
fully paid training workshop
$25 per hour per student
30 hours over one week
preparation and application support for REUs
hosted at a world class astronomy research institute
instructed by nationally awarded astronomer
Example Program Structure
Morning and afternoon sessions focused on 3 key training components:
Coding Skills - including introduction to computer programming with python, unix, and jupyter
Research Skills - including small-scale astronomy research projects using real astronomical data
Career Skills - including guest lectures on STEM careers and preparation for summer research experiences for undergraduates (REUs) with CV and application feedback.
